How to describe the people you question
They are reconstructions: everything the Society’s archive holds about a person, given a voice. You question them from your own phone, for as long as you like, and they answer as that person.
We would rather you did not call them “AI characters.” It is not inaccurate about the technology and it is wrong about the experience: the point is that a person from 1936 answers you, not that software does. The machinery is genuinely interesting and we are happy to talk about it on the record. It is just not what the thing IS.
A paragraph you can lift
The Keyhole Society is a touring murder mystery played on foot through a real historic downtown. Teams of up to six walk a five-stop route, finding evidence in the actual fabric of the city, and question four persons of interest from their own phone. Naming the killer is free. Building a warrant that holds is the game, and a team can be right and still fail to prove it. The Society runs one city for a season and then moves on.

What we will not do
We do not dramatise real crimes, real victims, or real tragedies, and no real person, family, business or building is named or implicated in any case. Every named entity in the story is invented. Where a town has its own real disaster in living memory, it stays civic memory and never becomes a puzzle.
