Terms of play

Plain versions of the things that matter. If any of it turns out to be unfair in a case we did not think of, write to us — we would rather fix it than win it.
What you are buying
One case file for one team, for one night: up to six people, one outcome. There is no clock and no host. The file is single-use — there is one warrant, and once it is sworn the case is closed. Sharing your link does not give somebody else a game. It gives them yours.
Weather
The whole thing happens outdoors. If the weather is genuinely unsafe — storms, ice, heat or cold warnings — we will move your night at no charge, or refund you in full if no other night suits. That is our call to make, and we will make it early rather than leave you deciding in a car park. Ordinary cold or light rain is not a cancellation. Dress for the walk.
Refunds and changes
Move your night for any reason up to 24 hours before, at no charge. Ask for a refund up to 48 hours before and you get one. After that we cannot refund a file that has been opened, because opening it is the product. If something on our end fails — the site is down, a reconstruction will not answer, a stop is unreachable because of construction we should have caught — tell us, and you get your money back without an argument.
Where you go, and where you do not
Every stop resolves from public ground. You are never expected to enter a building, cross private property, climb anything, or approach a stranger, and nothing is ever hidden or placed for you to find. If a route ever seems to ask you to do one of those things, it is wrong. Stop, and tell us.
Your own safety comes first
You are walking a real city at night, and you are responsible for yourselves while you do it: traffic, kerbs, weather, and your own judgment about whether to keep going. Do not read the phone while crossing a road. Nothing in the game is worth a risk, and no part of it requires hurrying — there is no timer, so there is never a reason to rush.
Ages
Written for adults: a fictional killing, handled seriously. We suggest 16 and over. Anyone under 18 should be walking with an adult who has read this page.
The story is invented
The case, the victim, the suspects, and every named person, business and organisation in it are fictional. We do not dramatise real crimes, and we do not attach our story to any real person, family, or named building. Any resemblance to real events is not intended and is not our meaning.
The reconstructions
The persons of interest are reconstructions — the archive given a voice. They are not recordings of anyone, and they are not live performers. They will get things wrong, contradict themselves, and lie to you, much of which is deliberate. Nothing one of them says is a statement of fact by us about anybody real.
Behaviour
Be decent to the town. It is somebody’s home and somebody else’s workplace, and we are guests in it for a season. We can end a session without a refund if a team is abusive to the public, to businesses on the route, or to us.
Liability
We are responsible for delivering the game we sold you. We are not responsible for the weather, the pavement, the traffic, or what happens because somebody was not looking where they were going. To the extent the law allows, our liability is limited to what you paid us. Oklahoma law governs these terms.
